The Coordinator Niger Delta Self-Determination Movement (NDSDM) Bayelsa State Chapter, Secretary Ijaw Youth Council action committee Worldwide, Comr Oki Tony yesterday while addressing news men of Bayelsa Connect condemned the brutal and unlawful massacre of Indigenes of Amassoma by the Nigerian police officers in amassoma community, Silga Bayelsa State which led to the death of over eight (8) persons(as at when this report was filed) and many brutally injured, while mothers, fathers,and children flee to nearby communities for safety.
Comr Oki Tony who was speaking from sick bed in porthacourt, River State, described the action of the police as unprofessional and a breech of the fundamental rights to life of the good people of amassoma.
He further described the act as a slap to the Ijaw nation and therefore calls on all relevant stakeholders of Ijaw nation and the state, political parties, the federal government, civil liberty organizations, legal authorities, the international community and the Niger Delta Activists to as a matter of urgency intervene and ensure peace is returned to the community and the state.
Comr Oki called on the Bayelsa State House of Assembly to as a matter of urgency invite the state Commissioner of Police for questioning, as the said act was carried out by officers under his jurisdiction.
