GBARAMATU TRADITIONAL RULER CAUTIONS ON DO-OR-DIE POLITICKING
Tribune - Ahead the 2019 general elections, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oboro Gbaraun 11, Aketekpe, Agadagba, has cautioned politicians against do-or-die politicking.
The traditional ruler gave the caution when Comrade Sheriff Mulade, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Delta House of Assembly aspirant, paid him a visit at his Oporoza palace, headquarters of Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Pere, who expressed his support for the aspirant like any other from the kingdom, warned that his kingdom would only support whoever emerges as candidates to represent the people in the State House of Assembly and other political offices.
Addressing Mulade and his supporters in Ijaw tongue, he averred that “I am aware that other candidates from this kingdom are also aspiring for the position; you should not play politics of bitterness or politics of blackmail; you should play politics of brotherly and friendly love.”
Speaking earlier at the palace, Comrade Mulade, who’s a famous environmental activist, said his visit to the royal father was to intimate him of his intention to seek to represent his people at the state’s assembly.
“I am here to inform my father about my intention to represent the good people of Warri South-West, and I believe my engagement with the monarch would trigger my way through this process.
“As a son of this kingdom, I need your royal blessings and support to enable me achieve my goals.
“I will try as much as possible to keep the relative peace; we’re going to build on it, because that’s my area of specialisation.
“I will eagerly try to see that employment is influenced to the youths, this kingdom has many International Oil Companies (IOC), we must make sure that our youths are employable in these companies.
“In the area of sport, I will ensure grass roots sport development would be a priority,” the national coordinator of the Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) enthused.
Mulade, who also used the occasion to inaugurate his Oporoza Constituency Liaison Office, said he would engage communities in Warri South-West from time to time if elected into the office.
The grassroots mobiliser added that his intention for the aspiration was not for personal gain, but for the sake of the downtrodden and the voiceless to be heard and responded to.
