A House of Representative hopeful, Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Hon. Alaye Tari Theophlus has called for peace in the ongoing Crises in the University Town of Amassoma. He stated that no fruitful resolution can be reached through war and that the only way to reach a fruitful end is through peaceful and sincere negotiations. He advised the people of the Community to be civil in the way and manner they handle this issues noting that the enemies of peace who do not want the good people will take advantage of the crises to perpetrate their evil agenda.

It is a known fact that the indigenous Niger Delta University has been under key and lock for the past one month. This is as a result of the ongoing protest that started after the increment in tuition fees, redeployment and massive  dismissal of the university staffers. Last week, after the Students' protest; the people of Amassoma took to the streets to register their displeasure over the current happenings in the University Community.
The protest which has been on for the past five days took a bloody turn yesterday as there was a serious battle between the protesters and officers of the Nigerian Police who tried to open the University gate that was welded closed by the protesters

He further sympathizes with the people who secured various degrees of injury and called on Governor Henry Seriake Dickson to swing into action in resolving the dispute before it gets too late. He advised that a fact finding panel be set up to find the remote and immediate causes of the crises and proffer solutions for peaceful resolution as soon as possible.

Hon. Alaye Tari Theophilus also called on the Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State  to investigate the police officers who were unprofessional in the way and manner they managed the crises.
