The gale of defection sweeping across the country hit Bayelsa State as over 600 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youths Vanguard in Southern-Ijaw Consistuency 2, by Hon Sofoni Ayetoro and Comr Orubie Kuro defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The event took place at the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in southern-Ijaw Local Government Area where the defectors bade farewell to their former party, APC on Tuesday this week.
In his speech Hon Sofoni Ayetoro said we have decamped from APC to PDP long ago. So this is the coming together formally of our members so that everyone will go to his ward and participate in the on going PDP membership revalidation exercise , adding that each one that came here is the representative of the Vanguard Youths of APC in Southern-Ijaw Consistuency 2. While speaking Ayetoro revaels that the group is made up of Over 600 members.
The Vanguard Youths leaders where received and welcomed by Team Obolo led by Hon Hon Monday Obolo Edwind Bubo member representing Silga Constituency 2 in the state house of Assembly and the current Agric Commissioner Hon Prince Doodei Week .
In another development, The Bayelsa State Government has reiterated its assurance that it would adhere strictly to merit in the recruitment of the 1,000 jobs Governor Seriake Dickson announced for the state civil service.
Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral John Gboriobiogha Jonah (retd), who stated this at the launch of a website for the recruitment exercise at the State Civil Service Commission on Monday, said the decision to create the website is to further demonstrate the Dickson-led administration’s resolve to give all qualified Bayelsans equal opportunities to get a place in the state civil service.
According to him, the government wants to ensure there is no room for rumour and unfounded stories over the recruitment exercise and has made the website available so that interested applicants can have easy access to information.
