A member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Istifanus Gyang, has stated that the gale of defections from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had worsened the crisis rocking the party.
The lawmaker, who stated this during his declaration for the senatorial seat of Plateau North at the state Secretariat of the PDP in Jos, on Saturday said PDP had asked for forgiveness for its mistakes of the past and apologised to Nigerians, adding that God had answered its prayer.
“What is happening to the ruling party in Nigeria is not ordinary; God has forgiven PDP and answered its prayer as the All Progressives Congress (APC) is falling apart like a pack of cards. The gale of defections especially, at the National Assembly was a terrible blow to the party; the stalwarts are yet to recover from the trauma up till now.”
According to him: “The 8th Assembly will stand and defend democracy because the basis of this dispensation was laid by the PDP. With PDP, the era of impunity in our politics has gone for good. I want to assure you that PDP will take over in 2019 and regain its leadership in Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole”
