Face your problems, leave our Dep. GOV. alone --- PDP chieftain tells Bayelsa APC

Face your problems, leave our Dep. GOV. alone --- PDP chieftain tells Bayelsa APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa has asked the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be mindful of some of its utterances, especially against the person of the Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd).

Deputy Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Toby Ebikedimie in a statement on Tuesday said the APC's claim that the Deputy Governor was bias in handling the recent crisis in Brass Local Government Area is not only disrespectful but an attempt to impugn on the integrity of the Bayelsa number two man.

Ebikedimie said the APC in its usual style of picking on members of the Restoration Government for sadistic reasons have chosen the Deputy Governor this time, but warned the party not to go beyond this point.

He stated that Jonah, is known for his uprigthness which he has displayed over the years, making him one of the finest military officers that the country has ever produced, adding that on no account will he throw away his good and admirable virtues.

The PDP deputy spokesman therefore warned the APC to stop its smear campaign against the Deputy Governor and the Restoration Government but look  for a solution to the many crisis bedevilling it.

According to him, the Deputy Governor has never used his contacts or connections as a retired military officer to influence men of the Nigerian Navy to
intimidate or harass anyone in Twon-Brass, as msichieveiously alleged by the APC.

The PDP stalwart added that as a statesman, the Deputy Governor is coordinating efforts aimed at bringing lasting peace to Brass and ensuring that such disturbance does not occur there or elsewhere in the state.

The statement read in parts: " We have observed with dismay the sudden attack on the Deputy Governor of the state by members of the APC, especially its spokesman, Doifie Ola because of his role in bringing peace to Twon Brass.

"We view the APC's recalcitrant attitude as a misnomer but we are not surprised because of its antecedent of being a party without the right values and democratic ethos.

"As a party, we will like to warn the APC to stop further attack on our Deputy Governor. We will not tolerate it again! Nobody in the Bayelsa APC can boast of his achievement, career wise, especially in the military, where he served meritoriously until he bowed out".

"The Deputy Governor has in the past committed himself to peace initiatives, the same thing he is doing for Brass. If the APC feels otherwise then it is left for them to deal with rather than allow their  symptomatic amnesia to affect their conduct".
