PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE NEEDS OF THE YOUTH ,THE TARAKIRI BOY URGED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AS YOUTHS MARK INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY .

As we mark this year’s International Youth Day, the prevailing national mood calls for a deeper introspection on the theme of this year’s commemoration, which is; Youth Building Peace.

aka The Tarakiri Boy

This special occasion observed every 12th day of August every year is in line with the United Nations Resolution 54/120 (19th Dec. 1999). It affords us youths across the world a golden opportunity to be celebrated and showcase our various achievements. Today, Our Nation is depending on us (the youths) to make it better and greater country.

Historically, sustainable peace continue to elude societies with high incidences of youth unemployment and attending rhetoric and restiveness. Nigeria, cannot afford added challenges arising from a frustrated youth population. We must not lose sight of the dangers of allowing a large swathe of our youthful population fall into despair. I therefore call on Federal Government to pay greater attention to the needs of our youths.

We must reassure our youths doubly that the future belongs to them. We can do so by addressing fundamental issues, granting the youths a role in articulation of policies and decision-making, and creating opportunities for them, so they can aspire and anticipate their future with greater and unfettered optimism. I equally call on State Governments across the country to domesticate and create policies that will accommodate the youths especially in the area of job creation, empowerments etc. Am also using this opportunity to call on all Nigerians irrespectives of tribe and religious belief and political ideology to pray for sustainable peace in our dear country Nigeria.
