The National Convener Annkio Briggs of Niger Delta Self Determination Movement, the Bayelsa state coodinator Hon. Oki Tony who also double as the Secretary Ijaw Youths Council Action committee worldwide has join words with the Governor of Bayelsa State His Excellency Henry Seriake Dickson for the campaign and advocacy of restructuring Nigeria to reflect true federalism. He has also faulted President Muhammadu Buhari stand's on restructuring.
The activists stated this in their separates interviews with a social media analyst Elaye Igbian-warifagha Yagila aka "The Tarakiri Boy",when the news of prominent southern leaders who were going to Benue State to attend a meeting on restructuring were denied from landing at Makurdi Airport by the presidency on a flimsy reason of security issue , he said Restructuring is the only solution to the problems of this country.
Speaking further , Annkio Briggs said it was unfortunate that the APC, which preached true federalism during the run-up to the 2015 elections, was changing its mind.
She said, “The only thing the government can do for this country is to ensure peace and stability in order to restructure the political system. Anything short of restructuring the country is a waste of time. All economic programmes and other initiatives all fall within the stability of the political set up,If President Buhari says the structure is not the problem, then he is the problem of Nigeria. If he doesn’t know that restructuring is the solution to the problems of Nigeria, then he is the problem. He deliberately wants to oppress others and give the North undue advantage.
“Is this current constitution the one that our founding fathers handed to us? Is this not the dictatorship (Militray) constitution? Why must we insist on that?
“He refuses to implement the 2014 Confab report. If he says the constitution is not the problem, then that is deliberate falsehood and he doesn’t like this country.”
In his remarks Hon Oki Tony stressed that, the inability of the South-east, South-west and South-south leaders to make the Makurdi summit, however, did not dampen the spirit of the conferees, who restated their call for the total restructuring of the country in order to correct some abnormalities that is stunting the growth and unity of the country he noted.
Hon Oki Tony, reiterated that, restructuring is the only answer in which Nigeria will be redefined along true Federalism which will allow the self-contained parts (States) of the larger entity (Central) to manage their resources.
Inconclusion Annkio Briggs , advised President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the 2014 Confab reports in order to reflect true federalism rather than using the issue of restructuring to canvass for votes in the forthcoming general elections.
