IYC PRESIDENT FECILITATES WITH CHIEF TIMIPRE SYLVA @ 54, SUES FOR UNITY.

The President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide Barr. Oweilaemi Pereotubo, members of the National Executive Council (NEC) and the entire leadership of Council felicitated with Chief Timipre Sylva former Governor of Bayelsa State on the occasion of his 54th Birthday.

National President of the Ijaw youths council, Barr. Oweilaemi Pereotubo disclosed in a press release Saturday morning, said ‘‘Chief Timipre Sylva is undoubtedly one of the best brains in the Ijaw Nation and a very valuable national asset that we are very proud of as one of our Worthy Ambassadors.’’

‘‘But while felicitating with our leader, we also use this rare opportunity to appeal to all our leaders to use occasions such as this to mend fences and also build more political bridges.

Days such as this should be used for true reconciliations.

It should be used to reunite the Ijaw Nation especially as we countdown to the historic 2019 General Elections that will help to define our stake as a distinct ethnic group in the Nigerian State where we produce a larger percentage of the natural resources that are used to run the country while our people are hated, oppressed, relegated, dehumanized, intimidated, humiliated, impoverished and pauperized.

‘‘We urge our great leaders at all levels and the entire Ijaw Nation to come together irrespective of political party affiliations and ideological differences to ensure the promotion, projection and protection of our collective interests and Ijawness.

Nigeria practice a multiparty system thus there is absolutely no way all our people can be in one single political party but in the midst of our political party differences, we should always protect the interests of our people. We should make the peace, unity, progress, growth and development of the Ijaw Nation our priority.

‘‘Finally, we pray that Almighty God will continue to bless, guard, guide and protect our great leader in his relentless sacrifices and services to the Ijaw Nation, the country and entire humanity’’ he said.
