THE CHAIRMAN OF SOUTHERN-IJAW FELICIATES WITH GOV DICKSON AS BAYELSANS CELEBRATES 58TH INDEPENDENCE AND BAYELSA AT 22.

The Chairman of Southern-Ijaw Local Government Council, Chief Hon Kia Ebidoughebofa Nigeria says the 58th Independent anniversary provides ample opportunity for all Nigerians and Bayelsans in particular to celebrate our diversity and potentials.


Kia also felicitates with the Governor of Bayelsa of Bayelsa State His Excellency Henry Seriake Dickson, and his wife Dr Reahel Dickson and as well as the people of Bayelsans at large for witnessing the 22nd Independence anniversary, despite various socio-econnomic and political challenges confronting us as a State.

He aextolled the leadership qualities of Gov Dickson for his tireless efforts for advocating for resturcturing of our dear country .

While expressing gratitude that, Bayelsa State is now on the match to economic security stability, the chairman urged Nigerian leaders at all levels to embark on projects that will impact positively on the lives of the entire citizenry.

Chief  Kia also harped on the “need for peaceful coexistence of Bayelsans irrespective of political differences , noting that the diversity of the state should serve as its source of strength.”

He expressed optimism that Bayelsa and Bayelsans have all the potentials to achieve greatness if we harness all our God given resources at all levels.

The Council Chairman also admonished Bayelsans living in Diaspora to synergize with the Governor Dickson's administration in the bid to engender economic stability .

 He also, appealed to the people of the  Southern-Ijaw and Bayelsans to continue to live together in harmony, love and peace.

The Chairman who stressed the importance of the rule of law in building up the stable democratic Nigeria which would be beneficial to everybody in the country, appealed to youths to eschew violence and learn how to tolerate one another as no state can grow or develop without peace.

According to him, “Bayelsa State may not have been where we want to be but the Restoration government of Gov Dickson have made appreciable progress and he can do more”.

As a state, he said, “we need to strengthen our unity as one people with one mission and purpose. The stable democracy has offered us opportunity to harness our abundant resources for good.”

As the chairman of Southern-Ijaw Local Government Council , Chief Kia assured that his administration will continue to do its part by providing the needed framework to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people.

“As you are all aware, 58 years ago, our founding fathers laid the foundation for a sovereign independent state, conceived in unity and dedicated to the proposition that ‘though tribe and tongue may differ, yet in brotherhood we stand’.

“This year’s celebration is unique in every sense, because it coincides with the commemoration of 18 years of unbroken democracy and a stable 4th Republic.

“There is no doubt that our democracy has come of age. Today, we have a government that is committed to our felt needs of the people . It is tackling insecurities and returning prudence and accountability to governance. This is with a view to building a brighter future for the coming generations.

“As we celebrate this remarkable day, I urge all residents in Southern-Ijaw to continue to support the Dickson led Administration as he work towards restoring the vision of our founding fathers.

“To this end, and as the chairman of the Local Govenment Council, I will leave no stone unturned to safeguard and enhance the development of the people .

“I salute you all and urge all of you to remain patriotic and law abiding citizens,” he said.
