BAYELSA STATE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE TO PARTNER WITH IRAN TO SCALE UP RICE PRODUCTION.

The  Bayelsa State Ministry of Agriculture on Tuesday , said it was partnering with the Iranian company" Le toran Multi-Concept Ltd"to scale up the level of rice production in the state.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources , Hon Prince Doodei Week said this, on Tuesday ,  in Yenagoa , while receiving a delegation of the Company 
The Agric Commissioner added that with the over 500 million hectares of arable land the state is blessed with it would be a very big investment for the Bayelsa State

Doodei said the partnership was coming at a time when Bayelsans consume over 5 million naira worth of rice every day.

On visiting the 500  hecters of land along Tombia Amassoma road , The Agric Commissioner reeled out areas needed to boost rice production which he said were machinery, technology, and especially training to encourage the youths whose population is over 60 per cent to go fully into agriculture.

According to him, “We find the partnership useful giving the exploits of Iran in the areas of agriculture, technology. And we have a lot to learn.”

Speaking earlier, The leader of Iran firm, Dr Farajvand, said the visit would create a platform where both Bayelsa state Iran can deepened bilateral relationship, look for breakthrough in the agric sector in the global market through the quality production. 

He said though, it was his first time of visiting Bayelsa state , but was pleased with the ingenuity of Bayesians in various aspects of life.
