All is now set for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Primaries for the Bayelsa State House Assembly which scheduled to take place a cross the state, Today Thursday 4th September,2018.
In Southern-Ijaw Consistuency II the PDP will be holding their primary at the Constituency headquarter at Oporoma the Local Government Council.
The Party is fielding for five aspirants for the house of assembly race, while two aspirants would be slugging it out on the platform of the APC.
Those who are contesting on the platform of the PDP include the incumbent member Hon Monday-Bubou Edwin Obolo, Hon Ezonibi Nelson Onini former house of Assembly aspirant of Labour Party in 2011 politcial dispensation, Hon Kieli Newyear.
Others are former former Boss of Bayelsa state due process Beaure and a close ally to the government house chief of staff Bayelsa state, and Barr. Enigman Amos
On the platform of the APC, former PDP Chairman Bayelsa Central Senatorial District , Hon Temple Ogili, and Hon Abule
At the time of filing this report, non of the aspirants have indicated any intentions to step down for another as all aspirants have vowed to go into the contest without fear or favour of godfatherism.
Speaking to our correspondent on his level of preparedness, the incumbent member of Bayelsa State Silga Constituency II, Hon Monday-Bubou Edwin Obolo said that he has adequately prepared himself to go into the primary election with all other aspirants of the party.
Obolo who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Hon Ma'o Onini assured that the primaries of the PDP would be free, fair and credible, adding that Obolo as the leader of the party in the Constituency put necessary machinery in place to ensure a level playing field for all the contestants.
“Hon Monday-Bubou Edwin Obolo is very much prepared for the PDP primaries for the Bayelsa state House of Assembly because he has served the people very well and had performed very well when you compare the resources at his disposal and effectively represents his constitents unbaisely and has also protect the interest of the party at all levels also demonstrated a right leadership style for any good leader would provide for his people”.
“Hon Monday-Bubou Edwin Obolo is going into the election with those credentials and as a leader who have the backing of his constituents and as an aspirant who have massive support across the wards in Constituency and very confident of his victory.
“Even as the leader of the PDP in the Constituency , Obolo had pledged to allow for equal level playing ground for all his co-contestants to test their popularity in the field and l believe the election would be hitch free.
Hon Obolo who called on the security agencies to ensure a peaceful atmosphere throughout the period of the primaries, urged them to arrest anyone found causing trouble no matter how highly placed. he said
