BAYELSA GOVERNMENT CONCESSION AQUACULTURE VILLAGE TO DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS-TARAKIRI NEWS REPORTERS


Hon. Week said that despite the concession of the Aquaculture Fish Village  the facility remain the property of the State Government which will generate more jobs at the end of the day.



The Government of Bayelsa State has commercialised the States Aquaculture Fish Village by signing the concession agreement between the Government and Aquaseas Company Limited.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Doodei Week after signing the concession agreement to handover the property to the company, assured Bayelsans that an holistic review of the concession agreement was carried out to ensure that the Aquaculture fish village was put into optimal use.

Hon. Week said that despite the concession of the Aquaculture Fish Village  the facility remain the property of the State Government which will generate more jobs at the end of the day.

He further assured Bayelsans,  that with the concession agreement, beneficiaries of the Restoration Administrations Agriculture Entrepreneurial training earlier carried out in Songhai would be the first to own a pond out of the 500 ponds already in use.

According to the Commissioner, this measure taken by government would change the status of beneficiaries who would soon become employers of labour.

He further called on the management of Aquaseas Company Limited to ensure that all their activities are in compliance with the guidelines agreed upon.

In a remark, the Managing Director and CEO of Aquaseas Company Limited, Mr. Steve Okelgi, explained that the company was partnering the World Bank to provide the needed capacity and technical assistance to ensure that the Aquaculture Fish Village is able to achieve set goals, thereby acting as a catalyst to woo more investors and boost revenue to the State.
